The Drainage Assistance Program (DAP) was developed in order to assist homeowners who have drainage concerns on their private property that extends beyond the public streets. At the Sept. 23, 2019 City Council meeting, Council voted to approve the DAP and set aside money budgeted specifically for this purpose, which allows the city to address drainage concerns that fall outside city rights-of-way.
The Fayetteville City Council developed this program after seeing the need to address drainage concerns that affect homeowners on their private property. Several of these properties exist outside of the previous city limits, and were built to standards that are less than what Fayetteville requires for stormwater infrastructure. In the program’s inaugural year, City Council has set aside $1.8 million dollars to address these concerns.
Homeowners with drainage concerns on their property are asked to contact the City’s Stormwater hotline at 910-433-1613 to apply for the Drainage Assistance Program. If a homeowner request is deemed eligible, it will be reviewed by our engineering division and its eligibility prioritized according to criteria based on severity of the drainage problem.
