Housing Programs

The City of Fayetteville's Community Development Department has five programs designed to improve the housing situation for Fayetteville residents with low to moderate income. To learn more about the programs, read about them below and visit the applications section to apply.

Acquisition and Demolition Program

Designed to acquire, demolish and remove property that is abandoned, unsafe, seriously damaged or deteriorated beyond reasonable financial cost to effectively rehabilitate, so that the property may be used for future affordable housing development.


Housing Rehabilitation Program

Funds are provided to the City by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program to offer both an Owner Occupant Housing Rehabilitation Program and Investor Owner Housing Rehabilitation Program. The objective of both programs is to improve the housing conditions for low to moderate income families; increase the supply of decent, safe and sanitary housing; and encourage revitalization of deteriorating neighborhoods

Emergency Home Repair Program

The Emergency Housing Repair Program (EHRP) is a grant  program that is created to provide financial assistance up to $5,000 for emergency housing repairs to low to moderate income home owners that occupy their homes as their principal place of residence.  Emergency repairs of all types shall be provided to mobile home owners, complete heating and air (HVAC) unit and roof replacements to homeowners of site built homes on a permanent foundation, and complete heating and air (HVAC) unit replacement to condominium and townhouse owners. It is not necessary for the mobile home owner to own the lot upon which the mobile home resides

Target Area Revitalization Program (TARP)

The goal of this program is to improve the neighborhood environment and quality of life for residents within the identified areas; B Street/Lincoln Drive areas and Bonnie Doone by removing blight through demolitions and providing exterior rehabilitation of existing residential structures. Residential exterior financial assistance in the form of grants offered to property owners up to $10,000. A matching grant for investor owners is also available. For structures that need to be demolished, up to $7,500 in grant funding is available to assist in demolishing dilapidated housing structures with an additional $5,000 to acquire the vacant lot once demolition is complete.
